An intuitive approach to form.

Based in Eindhoven, Casper Smits designs and makes furniture and objects by hand. Rather than starting from a fixed form, he lets each piece take shape while making it, guided by curiosity and by the material itself.

 

His first collection, Organic Pressure, starts from laminated solid wood. Shaped and refined by hand, each block slowly becomes a sculptural form, finished with stain and high-gloss lacquer that deepen the colour and keep the grain in view.
